Orion's riding high and sees right through me He knows just what he needs to say to soothe my thoughts He says Lonely little girl, you've got nowhere to run but forward And there's no reason to fear the steps you took He speaks in language I can't understand He knows my movements long before I make them He says Lonely little girl, you've got nowhere to run but forward And there's no reason to fear the steps you took There's visions that mean nothing 'til you need them Orion's got me wrapped inside those dreams tonight Orion's got me moving like machine tonight Orion's leading me into that green Oh tell me, Lonely little girl, you've got nowhere to run but forward And there's no reason to fear the steps you took Lonely little girl, you've got nowhere to run but forward, And there's no reason to fear, there's no reason to fear

Sea Imagery 02:46
Just like driftwood Floating far enough from everything that nothing leads me home These strange waters Rock the boats to sleep The shipyard is silent and alone What's worth remembering? It comes and it goes I'd tell you everything, But what do I know? Between two skies Floating far enough from everything that nothing lets me go We are driftwood Let's go, let's go, let's go Let's leave this place for somewhere we'll know better What's worth remembering? It comes and it goes I'd tell you everything But what do I know?

It's in your nature a little to want to feel lost and to want to feel lonely You'd light the fire on your funeral pyre just so you can accept that you're burning You despise what you catalyse But you have no want to bleed You always try to compromise But you can't get what you need Why would you need help if you can't blame yourself for the things that you know are your doing? You make yourself weaker when you're in control 'cause you don't need to know what you're proving You despise what you catalyse But you have no want to bleed You think you try to compromise But no one here's agreed And it all falls down Like the river stirs up the mud Armed to part the crowd You wish that your memory would 'Cause to recognise hope is to recognise fear and to recognise fear is to know that you're weak And I'm not weak It's the end of an era A point now in time Where there can be no looking back Things may not flow But that's something to show That you still haven't turned to look back 'Cause to recognise hope is to recognise fear and to recognise fear is to know that you're weak And I'm not weak

Well, I'm going home to see my lover Late tomorrow night She'll take me sweetly in her arms And hold me very tight She smells like milk and honey And her hair is spun like gold She makes all the boys go crazy Or so I'm told Porphyria Babe, I'm on my knees I'd do anything Babe, don't you love me? Don't do this to me I think tonight I'm gonna tell her Just how much she means To someone like me who's got no eye For sunshine and for green I'll take her tight into my arms And kiss her very soft I'll wait until she's weak enough That she won't push me off Porphyria Babe, I'm on my knees I'd do anything Babe, don't you love me? Don't do this to me Look at me with those eyes Try to say my name Try to take one last breath Try to play my game You have no control now The world remains the same Beg me not to hurt you 'Cause there's only me to blame Babe, I'm on my knees I'd do anything Babe, don't you love me? Don't do this to me Porphyria

Swimming 03:23
It's been five years I've stopped thinking about what you're doing right now Five years I still sleep in that bed But you're not in my head anymore And if I don't think about it, it never happened If no one touches me, it never happened If I keep quiet, it never happened You have no control But what you did still does I'm still in here It just took some time I was harder to find than I thought I'd be It's still unclear I've got things to do I've got nothing to fear but the void of you And if I don't think about it, it never happened If no one loves me, it never happened If I keep quiet, it never happened You have no control But what you did still does I won't feel sorry for myself I'm worth more than the lies you tell I don't feel sorry for myself 'Cause I kept going I kept going It's been five years It might take five more, but one day, the war will be over One day the war will be over

Listen to me child I've a warning for thee I've got a baby I've no more to see For when I was young And foolhardy indeed I walked with a boy Who was different from me And it's all gone down in flames I still smell the burning Still see the debris But who next is running I cannot foresee The horsemen are coming For our families But Jimmy says he still sings his songs just for me And it's all gone down in flames Get the gone, child You're a scoundrel, I see You all have nothing You could offer to me You'll thieve and you'll kill And a devil you'll be I don't want you coming Near my family God, the world's gone down in flames

Fuck

about

Now that MSPG is up and running again, I wanted to do something different from anything else on this page. So I went acoustic!

This album is full of mistakes and flubs and background noise (mostly dogs and bracelets :P) because I wanted it to feel like you're in my bedroom with me, trading music with me, with nothing to polish up what happens.
"Margaret I"is a reference to Margaret Cavendish's The Blazing World.

Choose Something was written the day I got into the Studio Comp program at my school.

Sea Imagery was written at a bit of a low.

Common Mode Rejection is one of the best songs I've ever written. It's in four distinct time signatures, and I wrote it after listening to nothing but Jethro Tull for a week or two.

I wanted to turn Robert Browning's poem Porphyria's Lover into a cute love song. So I did.

Swimming is close to my heart. It's about exactly what you think it's about, and I love it because I don't feel this way anymore, and I can't remember what it felt like to be this low. I wrote a final chorus minutes after recording that didn't make it:
"And when I think back on it, it never happened
When I feel loved, it never happened
When I scream about it, it never happened
You have no control
It's like you never did."
When I perform this one live, I'll include it.

Down in Flames was the first song I ever published, and I still perform it with Prosody, one of my bands. It'll appear on our first record, which we're recording later this month.
