Joan of Arc
03:33
|
|||
I have never bled
But you sew slaughter to my name
Leading me to glory
To a Heaven red with shame
I saddled my toy horses
Under burning skies of blue
I took the apple of your offer
I became a part of you
The god of childhood turned her head
The god of magic laughed instead
Of hearing what you do to little girls
Who throw their questions to the sun
What have I commanded
But childrens' idle play?
Other children live assured
They'll see another day
Through a wilderness of limbs
Shining through the rusty flood
The smell of smoke got brighter
Glory shield me like you said you would
You can spell my name with carnage
You can burn my heavy shroud
Saint me into anonymity
Tell the good Lord I was proud

Thirty
04:27
|
|||
I will not live to see thirty
But pull my tongue and silver will fall out
Oh, come collect from me
I cannot drink of your honey
I'm full on bile, full on morning dew
Oh, warm and empty
Stay your eyes with pins and glue
Borrow mine and dye them blue
And can I weep for my maybe
Whatever I can do to make it sweet
Oh, come collect from me
Maybe this can be funny
Smile wide, it won't happen to you
Oh, what can you take from me?
Stay your eyes, know what you owe
Tell no lies, I love you so

Negative
04:06
|
|||
I don't do drugs with you
I don't drink wine
I care too much about how I spend my time
I'm a negative of a negative
I am an acrobat
I juggle knives
I walk the line between bitterness and bile
I'm a negative of a negative
Oh you could love me
Understand
See right through me
I'm the man
I'm a negative of a negative
I go to bed with you
I freeze and cry
You feed me penances
I feed you lies
No one comes home with me
No one comes by
The bare walls of this room will hold me when I die
I'm a negative of a negative
Oh you could love me
Understand
See right through me
I'm the man
I'm a negative of a negative
Please say something call me yours
I hear you whisper through the floorboards
Still you fear this
All I know is
You're not brave enough to let me out
Oh you could love me
Understand
See right through me
I'm the man
I'm a negative of a negative

The Snowy Mold
05:56
|
|||
I send you dreams on linen thread
You move your mouth as if to say you taste them
Honey in the webs between my fingers
A cloudy morn of heather grey
Testing waters far too warm to swim in
Don't you wonder why I get to shakin'?
The snowy mold won't bring me home
The snowy mold won't bring me home
An antiseptic kiss for you
You tune your violin to match the aching
Time to clean up all this mess we're making
The snowy mold won't bring me home
The snowy mold won't bring me home
I send you dreams on linen thread
Speaking you a shawl around your shoulders
Promising that I'll be getting older
The snowy mold won't bring me home
The snowy mold won't bring me home

Honeydew
04:05
|
|||
Honeydew, I fell in love
Honeydew, I fell in love
Telling you, tell me your lies
Little blue, little disguise
Clarity, claiming your smile
Only you, only a child
Little laugh comes from above
Honeydew I fell in love
And now I drink tea on a porch in the sky
Honeydew, hold me a while
Little you, blue by design
Little days, dreaming enough
Honeydew, I fell in love

Christopher/Scorpion
04:25
|
|||
I wish I could swim
To ferry you over
This little pond's width
You watching the sun
Like she couldn't burn you
She tells you to run
She holds you too close
She whispers too sweetly she tells you she knows
You grow heavy, I grow tired
You hold me down, the waves grow higher
With salt on my teeth
A plague on my nature
It gets hard to breathe
You say something fast
We drown for an instant
This moment won't last
You grow heavy, I grow tired
You hold me down, the waves grow higher
You grow weary, I grow old
I close my eyes, embrace the cold

Poem Called Paradise
02:48
|
|||
I wrote a poem called paradise
To see if you would dream with me
Water through a rusty sieve
A market full of green
My coltish arms reach near to you
To keep you from the sea
I wrote a poem called perfidy
An echo of a memory
Whoever glided in and out
Tasted something more than me
But I am not the moonlight
My parting's not so sweet
You saw something new today
I hung back to read the news
Laughter through the thinnest walls
Vapour in the pews
One more time since morning
This island sings the blues
